Tactile Traces: from PMQ Texture Charms

As you walk through PMQ, notice the building’s subtle surfaces: the rough granite steps, brick seams, metal grates, or worn window sills.

The “Tactile Traces: from PMQ Texture Charms” workshop invites participants to turn these architectural structures and textural details into tangible, permanent ceramic forms. Participants press clay directly onto the surrounding architecture to capture the negative space of the site. By recording the textures with brush-on glaze and shaping the clay into a keychain charm, a flat memory is transformed into a wearable, tactile object that continues to evolve, scratch, and wear down through daily use.

Workshop by
Tang Tsz Wai Cheri

Tang Tsz Wai Cheri is a Hong Kong-based interdisciplinary artist working across acoustic ceramics, kinetic installations, and spatial sound. Graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Fine Arts (Honours) from RMIT University in co-operation with the Hong Kong Art School (2025, Dean’s List), her practice investigates how ceramics interact through touch, sound, and movement. Through site-responsive fieldwork, empirical clay body formulation, and tactile experimentation, she explores how synaesthesia, physical pressure, and environmental resonance reveal hidden dimensions of everyday spaces.
