The “Maybe Better” workshop adopts an experimental approach to guide participants in re-examining everyday objects. Starting with familiar items close at hand, participants apply subtle adjustments—adding a touch of colour, drawing a line, altering a slight curve, or reconfiguring how pieces hang—observing the quiet shifts within each object. Participants are encouraged to bring a small, meaningful personal item to incorporate into their sculpture.
Rather than aiming for a “perfect product”, the experience offers a moment of quiet reflection, focus, and sensory exploration. As participants experiment with suspension and kinetic balance, any tipping, tilting, or momentary instability is welcomed as part of the authentic making process. Throughout the session, participants will assemble and fine-tune their own unique kinetic hanging sculpture to take home.
Breaking away from rigid ideals of perfection, the workshop uses an iterative loop of “try, observe, and refine” to invite participants to feel the dynamic relationship between objects and self, celebrating design as a process rooted in the everyday.
